Private Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga

In Berlin I offer private prenatal and postnatal yoga practice in English and in Italian. This is informed by the hundreds of pregnant and postpartum mamas I have accompanied and learned from, as well as my own pregnancy and postpartum body. This can also be a beautiful present to offer to a mother in pregnancy or after birth.

The practice of yoga is the union of embodiment, a place of integration of the physical and subtle body. My intention is to share the nurturing practice that has been my anchor in times of stress. I also teach yoga for everybody, outside of pregnancy and birth.

Postpartum

Transformations in the postnatal body are intense and sometimes unexpected. I celebrate all kinds of birth and recognise the impact it has on the mother. Postpartum yoga can gently support the body to keep flowing in this time of change. The pelvic floor and abdomen are often the centre of the practice, but often other areas need to be strengthened and to release tension. I treat the postpartum practice also as an act of self care for parents who take care of a baby. I am dedicated to supporting mothers not only physically, but also by providing a space where they can connect to themselves, and use techniques of breathing and meditation for wellbeing.

In pregnancy

Yoga is one of the safest movement practices for the pregnant body. I like exploring together what is especially beneficial and what needs to be adapted. Depending on individual needs, we can look at how to support the pelvic floor and bones of the pelvis, how to make space in the body and encourage baby to come into good positioning (I have learned a lot from the Spinning Babies® approach). We can also see the role of the breath and voice in pregnancy and during birth. I want the practice not only to help take care of discomforts, but also to encourage trust in the body of the pregnant person and connection with the baby. I use tools of meditation and visualisations, and at the same time I am careful to remain grounded in the reality of the pregnant body and of birth.

More about my yoga practice

I started teaching yoga in 2017, after eight years of practice and a three-year (700+ h) teacher training with the Pranayoga Method® and the guidance of Amanda Morelli in Berlin and Maurizio Morelli in Italy. My practice includes body postures (asana), breathwork (pranayama), gestures (mudra), introspection, visualisations, voice and sound.

Practicing with the Pranayoga Method®, alignment is first of all to ourselves. The pace of my classes varies, but the practice is based on listening to our sensations and being aware of our presence and vitality. The method provides a structure, anatomical precision, accessibility and safety. The principles are then adaptable to each unique practitioner. It is yoga for Every-Body.

My focus is on sensing internal and subtle movements. I respect yoga as a practice of devotion, to keep open the channels into the deep side of ourselves by moving energy in the body with purpose. I believe in a regular practice, and this is why my offering has taken the shape of courses rather than drop-in classes. Over time, what I hear from students is that they feel calmer, their nervous system is better regulated, and they feel better when they keep practicing.

Further reading on yoga

  • The Pranayoga Method® is a teaching method applied to hatha yoga. The practice aims to improve the perception and flow of Prana, “the vital energy”, both in the physical body and in the subtle structures constituting the mental and the higher levels of being connected with spirituality.

  • I teach hatha yoga, which can be considered the “mother” of all modern yoga styles, giving the building blocks for different ways to practice yoga.

  • My practice aims to be anti-inflammatory and is informed by the work of Bo Forbes.

  • Leslie Howard’s pelvic floor yoga is also part of my tools.

  • Here you can find the video of a recorded yoga practice. Let me know if you would like more material.

  • This is a simple guided meditation that I use to invite calm at the beginning of a practice.
